SHED II

2012

Site-responsive installation

Winnipeg, Manitoba

SHED is a site-specific research project that started in an abandoned grain shed near my house on the edge of the city. The building sits in the heart of a semi-rural habitat that is part of an established community facing an influx of suburban housing. Through photography, video and installation, I studied invasive behaviors that link plants, wildlife and humans. I photographed structural elements of the building and the surrounding fields and forests, and then translated my findings into three-dimensional photo sculptures to dialogue with the urban architecture in my Exchange District studio.
